Blackcap 1
Above is NOT a record, but I`d like to comment on Angi Harrell`s interesting very recent record of a Blackcap singing at Ferryside. I`ve had late winter birds singing in the past, both at Pwll and here near my W Llanelli garden. The song was not fully developed – almost a `sub-song` and, at first, confused me until I saw a male actually singing. These overwinterers (mostly from Central Europe) sometimes sing before returning, as Redwings also (rarely) do, in the late winter. The mild, wet winter may have encouraged singing.
