A very disappointing count from approx 4 hectares of marsh! I think the “boom” from the firing range at Pendine may have disturbed the birds, as plenty of droppings around.
WeBS counts earlier were also poor

Many more Scoter far offshore. A Shoveler in with the close inshore Scoter flock was a surprise.

The Surf Scoter was a drake. It was on the far edge of the flock of Common Scoter, probably about four miles distant.
Juv Marsh Harrier at Ginst on the way home.
