Sedge Warbler 8
all heard along the cycle path. Also Cetti's singing quite clearly near Pentre- dafis. It seems the latter maybe increasing its range in the county away from the coast/estuary locations. It's probably worth checking out ponds, ditches and ox-bows in the mid-tywi valley, fwiw.

Lesser Spotted Woodpecker* 2
Lesser Spotted Woodpecker male drumming and excavating nest hole in a dead tree near the drive to Stradey Castle. A female LSW calling from nearby and Great Spotted Woodpeckers drumming elsewhere in the woods. Unfortunately, this is a quote from one of my notebooks, made exactly 50 years ago (26.4.1976) that I had forgotten about, but found last week. In those days, I`d periodically record LSWs at Stradey Woods, as well as other wooded sites around Llanelli and elsewhere in Carms. I even had them on a next-door neighbour`s mature oak tree (since felled) at Denham Ave, Llanelli in the late 1970s.
