  A pair of Shelduck were in charge of 22 ducklings.
Fewer Shelduck, Mallard and Crows were seen than on 8th and no Oystercatchers at all.

  Evening visit produced a 3rd breeding pair and possibly a 4th. Also, several Sand Martins.

  All with orange crowns to the head – the result of nectar-feeding at Phormium (NZ flax) flowers, a phenomenon better known in Eire where Phormium is extensively naturalised.

  One Nightjar was flying within 6 feet of me. First time I’ve heard the flight call. Can stil hear one calling as am standing in the carpark at the entrance.
