Exact spot was park in quarry car park on top of Black Mountain and walk towards Tair Carn uchaf..but stop before going up to the second stone cairn. Previously seen 70+ Golden Plover and 3 Grouse here. Hidden under Camo from 9am to 2pm. Only 3 Plover today, but the Merlin flew very low and fast and quite close, so 100% on my sighting..great to see one up here this year again. Also another large bird of prey in flight with a long, square ‘rectangular’ tail..on checking ID Peregrine falcon does fit the description but I cant be 100% on this. |
