| Four dispersed singing chiffchaffs and one singing blackcap, spring arrivals rather than winterers. The episodic warm southerlies from c 24 Feb onwards have also brought some migrant moths to the UK (as they did sand martins to SWPk). Incidentally, 3 brimstones, 1 comma, 2 peacocks and a single red admiral seen today. Be aware of the possibility of large (not small) tortoiseshell as a migrant rarity (recently recorded elsewhere in UK). Ravens at nest. |
