Resident breeder with rookeries scattered throughout the county; birds are more wide-ranging from late summer.

1982
Maximum aggregation of c.100, Llansteffan, 22 November. Meagre numbers in South-east, probably correspond to small acreage of arable farming in this area.

1984
Noted as scarce, Llanelli and Gwenffrwd areas. Further information on rookeries would prove interesting. Largest aggregation, 95, Brechfa, 26 February.

1987

1988
Counts received for 57 rookeries, the largest being at Tirbach, Llanddarog 84 pairs. From sample, average size of rookery 22.3 nests.

1994
A total of 37 rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county, giving a total of 808 nests; the largest being near Bryngwyn Farm, north of Talley with 87 nests. The mean size was 22 nests, with 21 rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests. It is hoped to monitor rookeries within the county and any counts would be appreciated.

The only other record was of 250 at Cynghordy on 16th February.

1995
A total of 54 rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 1368 nests; the largest being at Laugharne with 90 nests. The mean size was 25 nests, with 28 rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests and 7 with over 50 nests.

A roost at Cynghordy held 250 birds on 15th December.

1996
A total of 55 rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 1302 nests; the largest being at Brook Farm, Pendine with 108 nests. The mean size was 24 nests, with 27 rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests and 5 with over 50 nests.

There was a flock of 400 at Llandovery on 23rd June.

1997
A total of 56 rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 1192 nests, the largest being at Laugharne with 122 nests. The mean size was 21 nests, with 31 rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests and 4 with over 50 nests.

1998
A total of 48 rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 987 nests, the largest being at Brook Farm, Pendine with 94 nests. The mean size was 21 nests, with 27 rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests and only 1 with over 50 nests.

1999
A total of 29 Rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 644 nests, the largest being at Brook Farm, Pendine with 81 nests. The mean size was 22 nests, with 16 Rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests and only 2 with over 50 nests.

2000
A total of 36 Rookeries were counted in scattered localities throughout the county with a total of 814 nests, the largest being at Laugharne with 92 nests. The mean size was 23 nests, with 18 Rookeries containing fewer than 20 nests.

2001
There was an unusual record of 2 pairs nesting in an urban site – at Llanelli Leisure Centre – on 25th March.

2002
Recorded all months except January, at Pwllau, Taliaris. A good indicator of the health or otherwise of farmland, more records would be appreciated.

2003
At Rhydcymerau, where infrequent, 2 on 7th November. In the breeding season: 12 nests in a new rookery at New Inn, Llandeilo on 30th April and a 24 nest rookery in Llangadog churchyard on 4th May. A 34 nest rookery at Llanfair, Llandovery; 20 nests at Mydffai sewage works and 37 at Nantyrrhodyn, Llanddeusant.

2004
Only 88 nests reported from 4 rookeries.

2005
192 nests counted at 8 rookeries.

2007
There seems to be a steady and worrying decline of rookeries. A substantial colony in Salem has now completely gone over the last two years. Counts received of nests were as follows: Ferryside 26, Llangadog 15, Llanfair — Llandovery 39, Cothi Bridge 20, Nantyrhidyn — Llanddeusant 56 and Twyi Cot — Gelli Aur 22.
