A scarce spring and autumn passage migrant. Most records May and August to September with occasional winter records. Mostly coastal, one recent inland record.

One record only, of a first winter bird at Burry Port Harbour on 3rd October.

1 immature, Ashburnham Golf Links, 2-6 March; 1 immature, off Pwll, 4 September; 1 first winter, Tywyn Point 26 December.

1st winter plumage, off Carmarthen Bay Power Station, 8 October.

2, 1st winter to 1st summer, North Dock, Llanelli, 28 March; 1, 1st Winter, Salmon Scar Point, 3 May.

Adult, Ginst Point, 8 August; Cydweli Quay, 28 September.

1st winter, Llyn Pencarreg, 29 October.

Adult in winter plumage, Ginst Point, 4th. 1st Winter, Morfa Coedbach, 9 and 11 February 1st Winter, Salmon Scar Point, 24 September.

Singles, River Llwchwr, Bynea 19 March; 1st summer, Penclacwydd 30 May; 6 immatures, Morfa Cydweli 10th. 1 Cefn Sidan 15 September.

Morfa-uchaf Ferryside: adult-summer on 22nd May. Recorded annually since 1987.

The only record was of a juvenile at Sandy Water Park from 10th to 12th September, with 2 juveniles there on 11th. Recorded annually since 1987.

The only record was a first summer bird at Penclacwydd from 6th May to 4th June which was also recorded at Machynys Pond.

A first summer bird was at Penclacwydd on 22nd May, 2 on 28th -29th, with 1 remaining to 3rd June.
In autumn single juveniles were at Burry Port on 11th September and from 30th September – 2nd October and also at Sandy Water Park on 30th September.

The only record was a 1st winter bird at Morfa Uchaf, Ferryside on 13th January.

All records were from Penclacwydd; with 2 (1st summer, 1st winter) on 23rd April, the 1st sum. remaining to 25th. In May the 2 were seen again from 4th – 14th, the 1st sum. staying to the 16th and also being seen on 25th. A juvenile was seen on 16th – 17th September, and the last record of the year was of 1 on 10th December.

A report of a single from Sandy Water Park on 29th April was probably the same bird there from 1st to 7th May. Singles too at Penclacwydd on 18th June and Kidwelly on 26th.

Adult Upper Loughor Estuary February 21st, Penclacwydd March 21st-26th and adult Salmon Scar Point October 21st.

Adult Sandy Water Park April 10th & 19th, juvenile Pentre Davis November 7th and same bird at Dryslwyn Bridge November 9th and 2 Sandy Water Park November 28th.

It is important to try and age scarcer gull species in order that the number of birds can be judged.
