Scarce passage/winter visitor to Carmarthen Bay and outer estuaries.

Singles off Cefn Sidan, 5 March and 29 October; Tywi estuary, off Llansteffan, 18 January. I found dead, Cefn Sidan Sands, 26 October, . Most seen in any year.
1988
1, off Burry Port, 2 February; 2 off Cefn Sidan Sands, 5th, 1, 6th November and 17 December. Inland 1, Blaen Wysg Reservoir (Usk), joint county, 5 January.
1989
3, off Cefn Sidan, 25 February, were most ever seen together in the county, 1 there 28 April. Singles, off Burry Port, 27 November, 23rd; Witchett Pool, 15 December.
1990
Singles, off Burry Port, 13 January, 14 February; off Cefn Sidan, 19 October; off Burry Port, 11 November.
1991
Singles off Morfa Bychan 13th; off Telpyn Point 27 January; off Cefn Sidan 24 February, 16 April; off Telpyn Point 28 December.
1993
There were 2 records of single birds: at Morfa Bychan from 6th February to 7th March and at Burry Port on 3rd December. Last recorded in 1991.
1994
The only record was of 1 at Burry Port on 9th April.
1996
A heavily oiled bird was picked up dead at Wharley Point in late February and 1 was at Pembrey Harbour on 5th March.
1997
There were 2 records of single birds at Telpyn Point on 3rd February and Cefn Sidan on 31st October.
1998
The only record was of 1 at Telpyn Point on 31st January.
1999
There were 4 records of single birds at Telpyn Point on 7th February, 7th March and 28th December and at Salmon Scar on 27th December.
